My “rage-bait” of Jordan’s youth? Legos! The frustration of trying to construct is one thing. But have you ever stepped on one? I’m confused!

The narrative has completely shifted! Legos are now a meditative comfort for the feet! How does this happen?

One thing all kinds of legos have in common is their sensory aspect. There’s something about the tactile build that creates a novel experience.

Sensory items are a must in Morgan Chasteen’s classroom for 5 to 7 year olds with autism. I spent time with her the other day for a story.

“Morgan is 2nd from left”

Morgan manages to break through to her kids with immense patience, concentrating on the unique eccentricities of each child, one at a time. Her hack? Taking a deep breath and focused moment in the car each day, before stepping in the classroom. Building her students is, in a sense, a meditative exercise.

“Connecting with Heart”

There’s a flow to mastery. Take, for example, the 150 year old Tea Caddy shop Kakaido. Artisans focus soley on refinement. They hammer the caddies into being so precisely that the lid appears to float downward when opened. This process, with more than a hundred production steps, has endured since 1875!

Nowhere is nuance more critical than tennis. Most wins come down to finite movements or decisions. Novak Djokovic spoke about this with Jay Shetty. He explained how his childhood coach taught him to channel classical music as a vehicle creativity and calm during matches. This entire podcast is next-level!

Can we all reach this meditative zone with our work? The way we achieve our most attentive flow may vary. Yet, I’m convinced the epicenter of purpose connects us to its transcendent value.

Police K9 “Blitz” wasn’t running down a criminal, but rather getting swarmed by preschoolers last month. They smothered him with all sort of stickers. He sat perfectly still, absorbing the full presence of the children!

“Dedicated Dawg!”

“Adherence of purpose can transform.”

Sandra Shaw

I am convinced that God invites us into divine work. If prayer is an open heart to His power, then nothing we do is of mere surface value. Rather, it’s exponential, even the minutiae of process. Scriptures encourage this in Colossians. “As you learn more and more how God works, you will learn how to do your work. We pray that you’ll have the strength to stick it out over the long haul—not the grim strength of gritting your teeth, but the glory strength that God gives.” (1:11/MSG)

A painful lego embedded in the carpet can build into a collaborative springboard of style. A child can write their first word after 6 months of non-verbal communication. A tennis player from a war-torn country can vaporize records with 400 Grand Slam match wins. A tea caddy lid can seal itself. A German Shepherd can sit as an emoji of pet therapy power. The possibilities are endless. Thank you Jesus! Have an amazing week! 😄
