Last Thursday I spent the morning live on “Flying Cow Road”…
NO, not this (though it is unusual)! Rather, a swampy area in Wellington, the site of an EF-3 tornado strike during Hurricane Milton last year.
Plot twist: “Flying Cow” isn’t named after cattle getting swept up in a tornado, but actually the town’s founder: C.O.W (Charles Oliver Wellington). He loved aviation, and ran a ranch there by the same name in the 1950s. It blossomed into the world’s largest strawberry patch! By the way, this year’s strawberry season in South Florida begins in a couple weeks.
But back to last Thursday…
Swarms of mosquitoes relentlessly attacked our crew for two and a half hours during our broadcast. To paraphrase an old African proverb, “If you think you don’t matter, hole up in a closet with mosquitos.” You matter. China seems to think so with a new mosquito spy drone.
The surveillance state is the new default in China. It just caught up with an underground evangelical pastor. Chinese authorities have detained Ezra Jin. He secretly ran Zion Church in China through online prayer groups in private homes spread across the country.
“Promise lives in the story arc.”
Returning to swampy Palm Beach County, with the world’s deadliest creatures zipping around…
Things changed at sunrise. The dragonflies woke up and started eradicating the mosquitos.
AND, a magnificent rainbow appeared, perfectly arching over the moon.
“Hope Coalescing”
Remembrance is powerful. The scriptures read, “For three hours, beginning at noon, darkness came over the Earth.” (Matthew 27:45 MSG) This happened right before Jesus died. He always knew he would. He’d declared earlier, “This is the blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” (Matthew 26:28 NIV)
YOU MATTER. Are there tornadoes and bloodsuckers in our capsule of time and space? Yes. Is there a greater simultaneous hope in Jesus? I believe so. I’m convinced He resurrected, fulfilling more than 300 covenant prophecies, restoring the arc of our eternal story.
