Spring break week is SWEET!

And, oh so sweet, my Ole Miss Rebels in the Sweet Sixteen! Can’t wait for Friday’s game!

“STILL DANCING!”

I even got to dress up for a First Serve Fundraiser at the Breakers.

The floral arrangements at the Breakers are always stunning. But, perhaps more profound beauty emerged from an encounter I had with flowers last week.

I was on an early morning live-shot downtown. A tormented homeless man was shouting at the air and shadow boxing near our set-up. I noticed the crazy actions, but paid the man no mind.

He did think of me. During one of the breaks between hits, the man left me flowers. To be specific, plants that he dug up from the beds accenting the square.

This touched me. Through all of this man’s pain he perceived beauty, grabbed onto it, and shared it. Torture can’t steal beauty’s essence.

“BEAUTY’S TRUTH IS AN ETERNAL IMAGE.”

Sandra Shaw

There was certainly nothing beautiful about Roman crucifixions. Scourged, bloody bodies, gasping for dwindling air, rotting on two beams of wood, defiled the human ideal. Yet, what one man saw, in the epitome of suffering on the cross himself, changed everything.

Jesus saw YOU. He saw Himself (Creator of the Universe), in you, through the horror. He found beauty in excruciating pain. Luke 23 says, Jesus prayed, “Father forgive them for they don’t know what they’re doing.” LOVE gives beauty context.

You are beautiful because you are so loved by your Creator. May your soul be sweet and your day be beautiful!
