Route Words
Pronunciation, Starship, & Strategy
How do you say Route?like ewww or ouch? |
I ask because I am studying wide receiver routes for my first ever flag football game at the Vous Bowl Saturday. There’s the Golden Hour, the Silver Spot, the Miami, the Georgia, and the New Jersey—all code for top secret plays! After just one practice I’ve learned that wide receiver is basically just sprints on turf, while trying to elude aggressive blockers.
So, is route like, you’re gonna root for victory? Or is it like route, as in you’re gonna evade the rout (defeat) at all costs?
“Did I run the right way?” 😂
I love trying new things, especially with a team. The process actually creates new neural pathways in the brain. It’s like a rewiring. But, it’s not exactly comfortable. The origin of the word route actually comes from the Latin, “rupta”, which is a road broken by force.
Starship is an awesome example of extreme force, breaking barriers with every test flight. Yesterday was another awesome step in the process of forging the future!
To keep with the football terminology, the booster went from, “Go for catch” to “NO go for catch.” SpaceX engineers diverted the booster offshore smoothly. Elon Musk says Starship will attempt one more ocean landing. He says, if that goes well, then SpaceX will try to catch the ship with the tower. Musk says the next huge challenge is a fully and immediately reusable heat shield.
Starship rocketed halfway around the Earth in 45 minutes, testing an in-space burn and carrying its first payload—a banana! SpaceX is taking an experimental route, all to learn. The team, (what an awesome attitude), cheered and rallied the entire time!
“Watched this Live!”
Lillian Weber’s seen her share of life routes. She’s 99. The Iowan’s path of the last three years has her indirectly traveling to Africa. She makes a new dress every morning for a little girl in need. Lillian’s dresses go to the nonprofit, “Little Dresses for Africa”. It takes her about four hours to make each dress, but she’s done it every day for the last three years. That’s more than a thousand dresses!

Empathetic minds see gaps.”
Sometimes when you’re trying to close a gap, it can get dicey. Yet, open minds are practiced at seeking the slot. Case in point? Jesus in Luke 4, preaching to his hometown, Nazareth. “They threw him out, banishing him from the village, then took him to a mountain cliff at the edge of the village to throw him to his doom, but he gave them the slip and was on his way.” (4:29 MSG)
Another translation says Jesus walked right through the angry crowd. Creative paths often surprise. They require a unique confidence and determined vision. Passionate trails defy trials.
Jesus did not give his captors the slip on the route to his crucifixion. He allowed a seeming rout of his character. It didn’t matter because of his Heavenly root of Love. I’m convinced He is the road that willingly broke (rupta), for us.
Here’s to seeking the “way” this week. Keep an open mind and an open heart as you navigate 💜
