Happy May! Let’s hope last month’s showers are bringing flowers 😄 The kids at Delray Beach’s Coco Plum Nature School are here for it!

“Chatting with K-5”

These students are a part of an amazing community plant project called “Chips ‘n Salsa”. The kids are using microchips to monitor plant growth in a local community garden. It’s a collaboration with Florida Atlantic University’s School of Engineering.

"Curiosity and Communication”

In a way, the kids are training the plants and the plants are training the kids.

Training and chips have a unique intersection when it comes to this summer’s FIFA World Cup. Lay’s potato chips have generated 40 new niche flavors in honor of the countries competing. Varieties include English Bangers and Mash, Argentinian-Style Steak with Chimichurri, and Italian Pizza Margherita.

There’s even Portugese Chorizo and Onion, which I’ll give some favoritism. Why? Team Portugal, with star Cristiano Ronaldo, will be practicing right down the street from me next month. They’re ranked 6th and could win it all!

“Gardens North County District Park is Ready for You!”

As my favorite Ted Lasso says, “ Practice makes permanent and you’re always practicing something.” By the way, “Ted Lasso” returns this August. It ought to be epic as, this time around, he’s coaching a 2nd Division Women’s Futbol Team.

Here’s another Lasso classic quote:

“Taking on a challenge is a lot like riding a horse, isn’t it? If you’re comfortable while you’re doing it, you’re probably doing it wrong.”

I’d say that Kentucky Derby Winning trainer Cherie DeVaux knows a bit about that! Her horse, “Golden Tempo”, was in last place most of the race… until the final turn. Her emotions throughout the race reveal tension, belief, and utter triumph!

“Practice bleeds the plasma of perseverance.”

Sandra Shaw

So what are you practicing? How are you practicing? Are you curious? Are you communicating? Are you learning? Are you uncomfortable?

For every bit of pride that’s chipped away from us in practice, there’s a salsa of joy that can spice up strength. That’s been my experience with Jesus over the years.

The scriptures encourage this. "Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (MSG)

Our practice counts. Our training matters. Wisdom is designed to grow into God’s glory. James says, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of Heavenly lights who does not change like shifting shadows.” 1:17 (NIV)

Be encouraged and Believe! 😄
