Fab Four, Superfood, and Hidden Mastery

CURATED CURIOSITIES

💌 Every now and then something like “Now and Then” hints at the future. I’m talking about the new Beatles song resurrected from an old John Lennon tape. It happened through AI! Years after John Lennon’s death, Yoko Ono found a cassette containing a recording of the song. She gave it to Paul McCartney. McCartney tried to bring it to light, but the piano overshadowed the vocals. Fast forward to 2022. Peter Jackson developed an AI process during the production of a Beatles documentary. The AI separated the vocals from the instrument. That’s when McCartney gave Jackson the old Lennon cassette. AI brought the song to our ears. But the lyrics about eternal themes of time, friendship, and love have always been resonating. https://youtu.be/Opxhh9Oh3rg?si=GLogGe4r2pPfYl4h

🕳️ Growth happens now and then, sometimes faster than others. Take pumpkins as an example. My daughter planted the seeds from our Jack-O-Lantern. They’ve sprouted in a matter of days! This is typical of pumpkins. It’s one of the reasons the fruit is considered a superfood of the future. Pumpkins are drought-tolerant, resilient, and packed with nutrients. Right now pumpkins are being grown in mini-deserts in Bangladesh to fight food insecurity. There’s even a business now that exports pumpkins to climate challenged countries. https://www.bbc.com/future/future-planet/

“Pumpkin’d Up”

💭 Michangelo’s secret hiding place is finally opening up for public viewing. In the 1500s, the artist self-imprisoned. He’d helped defend Florence against Medici oppressors. Thanks to a traitor, they won. Fearing for his life, Michelangelo sequestered himself beneath the mausoleum he’d worked on. For three months he lived in the 23 foot space. It was discovered in 1975 with the genius’s charcoal drawings on its walls. The Medici Museum considered the art too delicate for routine viewing. But now they are opening the space for a limited time : this month through April of next year. “I saw the angel in the stone and I set him free.” In this instance, Michelangelo freed himself through drawing. The Pope agreed to pardon him if he’d continue his work on the Medici tombs. https://mossandfog.com/michelangelos-secret-drawing-room-open-to-the-public-for-the-first-time/

“RESPIRATION OF PAST AND FUTURE IS A PRESENT CONSTANT. BUT THE BREATH OF CHOICE CAN BRING ETERNAL CHANGE.”

Sandra Shaw

🙏”Getting relative with the inevitable” is a line that reverberates in Matthew McConaughey’s “Green Lights.” The memoir is awesome at blending in timeless personal truths from his “then” to his “now.”
