Volcanoes, Signals, & Writing

Hold on tight, hurricane season has activated! Get your goggles on!

“Hurricane-Force Wind Tunnel Action”

I gave a talk to some kids the other day on the tropics. A little girl asked about volcanoes!? Hmmmm… At first, it would seem random. But, she may have been onto something. It turns out active volcanoes can affect storms by shifting the Intertropical Convergence Zone. Let’s go. It’s a lesson to never discount a unique lens on an issue. (especially since Mt. Etna just erupted during this writing!)

“Novel Perspectives!”

What may be even cooler, NASA satellites have a filter that can detect when a volcano is about blow. It turns out that the leaves of trees turn much greener right before an eruption.

I’m not sure what all the Google’s new Gemini glasses with Android XR can detect. But, likely a lot! The smart lenses are set to release soon. In a talk last week the tech giant spoke on key features including an in-lens display that can tele-prompt or show videos and information. The glasses will have a built-in camera, microphone, speakers, and Google’s AI assistant Gemini.

“Not Google Glasses! lol”

Perhaps our most powerful lens isn’t what we process externally. Perhaps it’s what we magnify internally. The positive, or the negative? The common, or the rare?

“Perception shapes the tides of time.”

Sandra Shaw

The way we sense what we envision holds power. The scriptures point to this in Habakuk. “Write this. Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run. This vision-message is a witness pointing to what’s coming.” I’m convinced when we use the lens of faith, hope, and love our vision expand the impact of our lives on those around us. Let’s have a focused week 😄
