Journey Words

Flags, Sidewalks, & Optics

Happy Birthday Savannah! My awesome niece turns 16 today 😃 . She certainly knows where she’s going on the flag football field…

“Sweet 16”

Let’s just hope she’s as situationally aware on her driver’s test 😅 !

I think birthdays are sort of like landmarks on a journey. Navigation forward is both concrete and abstract. Orientation is both practical and intuitive.

“Baby Senses the Way”

Mama sea turtles had a field day this year, setting new nesting records on Florida beaches. Green turtles, once on the brink of extinction, have bounced back.

Birds are utilizing their invisible mental maps this Fall as well.

Nature can be a biocentric guide!

Yet, as Forrest Gump expressed, “Life is a box of chocolates…”

“Unknown Paths”

If you never know what you’re gonna get, it’s best to be prepared. A “Dead Reckoning” is a process used by spies when they can’t use electronic GPS. It requires a mental map based on a known starting point, landmarks, and an estimate of paces over distance.

Guidance is critical.

But the outer is only as reliable as the inner.

“Hope’s flying lines carry connected momentum.”

Sandra Shaw

The scriptures claim, “Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” (Psalms 119:105 NIV) Reading and knowing is practical.

It’s like an inner map. Yet, I’m convinced that map is only as reliable as its origin. How aware are we of our Creator? I’m convinced Jesus “dead reckoned “ us right out of sin’s stranding.

“Your life is a journey you must travel with a deep consciousness of God.” (1 Peter 1:18 MSG) This is one of my favorite verses. It fills me with gratitude for a tether of unfailing Hope. Have an awesome week!
