Coconuts, pineapple, and watermelon, with the juice right from the fruit. That’s what the coolest of boaters offered in the clear waters off Peanut Island. Definitely a highlight of Spring Break!

“Sip from the Straw”

Hydration beckons. I recently spied this bird looking for sustenance among the hyssop growing from the retainer wall.

“A Pure Choice”

Happy Passover (btw). The hyssop, a humble plant that grew from walls in the Bible, played a key part in this history. Hyssop was used as a brush to paint the blood of lambs on Hebrew doorposts. That’s what marked them protected from the 10th plague, when a “destroyer” killed all firstborns throughout Egypt. Those “passed over” were soon set free by Pharoah.

“Prince of Egypt” (Passover Scenes)

Humans use all sorts of instruments to mark our surroundings. RoadPrintz uses “Stella”, a bot that paints markings on streets. Check this out!

There’s not too much that the bots can’t do these days. This video is wild!

In contrast, Japan marks each box of fruit with a human face. Produce comes with personalization: a card profiling the farmer behind harvest. It’s a practice called “kao-no-mieru-kankei” (relationships where you can see the face).

“Awareness signals perception.”

Sandra Shaw

According to the scriptures, “Jesus said: ‘I am thirsty.’ A jar of sour wine was sitting nearby, so they soaked a sponge with it and put in on the stalk of HYSSOP and raised it to His lips.” (John 19:28/TPT) After hours of excruciating crucifixion, He surrendered his spirit to God.

Jesus, the human passover lamb, shed His own blood, to smear away our broken standing with God. He marked the story by fulfilling signs. Like hyssop breaking through a wall, Christ cracked into time and space.

“FAITH CAN FLOWER ANYWHERE.”

Jesus taught from a boat in the water, offering life-giving words to our soul’s thirst. He showed His face more than 2000 years ago. Yet His miracles and mercy are what, to this day, mark His current, living presence. In Les Miserables, Valjean sings, “To love another person is to see the face of God.” We all have access. We all have the capacity to believe. He is alive.

Have the best Easter!
