As I write this, PGA golf pros are in the final round of the “Cognizant Classic”, just down the street. I got a chance to go on Thursday. The golf was awesome, but this tribute wall for veterans really caught my attention.

“Thank you Pratt & Whitney”

100 year old Navy pilot Royce Williams is finally getting some much deserved “thanks”.

“1952 Feat Finally Recognized”

The “Maverick” centenarian had an otherworldly, 35 minute dogfight against the Soviets. It stayed secret for decades because it exposed the extreme deterioration of US/Soviet relations. Williams flew all by himself against 7 Soviet MiG-15s, and shot down 4 of them. “

Many times the invisible or secret battles are the most daunting. During the covid pandemic days, mental fights reached new levels. Thankfully, I got a chance to serve with my church crew throughout (albeit masked and zoomed up).

Honor is one of Vous’s tenets. As you can see, I still have the zoom shout outs from a certain huddle. It happened in the midst of a tropical downpour after a beach clean-up. Never underestimate what a few motivational words can bring! The authenticity behind honor endures!

Here are some of the same crew members last November at a gathering for the launch of “Lost Black Sheep.”

Jonathan Alberga, (2nd from my left), hit rock bottom with addiction several years ago. An anonymous stranger paid for him to get into a recovery center. He’s been sober ever since. Now Jonny and his wife Joanna are honoring those wanting to get better with scholarships to recovery programs.

“Another Example!”

I’m convinced that true honor values the human. Genuine honor gives a nod to our unique human ideals: joy, love, resilience, courage, and sacrifice.

“Respect’s quanta express as honor.”

Sandra Shaw

Back to that Covid-Era clean-up photo in the downpour…

The rain actually forced us under the protective canopy, closer together. Circumstance or atmosphere will always change. Yet we can salute the constancy and privilege of our humanity: souls created in the image of God. The scriptures read, “Above all, constantly echo God’s intense love for one another, for love will be a canopy over a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8/TPT)

There are so many small, yet profound ways we can share this with those around us. I honor you! Spread it forward 😃
