Highlight Words

It’s always encouraging to have something over your head. Just ask the harvest mice across the pond. In addition to strawberries and cream, Wimbledon is creating tennis ball habitats! Used match balls are transformed into shelters for the little dudes.

All sorts of pedestals highlight the sublime. I recently dined at Pharell’s Nami Nuri (wave in Japanese). It elevates its temaki with artisanry! Better yet, I met the coolest server. He shared that his feisty 93 year old grandmother called him at 2AM when he was wrapping up his late shift!

Sometimes you’re just lucky enough to be a walking highlight. That’s NBA Hall of Famer Rick Barry. The cool thing about his incredible free throw stats? He attained them with avant-garde audacity—-underhanded! Whatever works. Sometimes you gotta go low to rise!

Then there’s our ultimate July 4th celebration highlights…fireworks! The show over the West Palm waterfront is awesome—always more than you expect!

I am convinced that we only elevate to the level of our thoughts. I have a great friend who “stars” his projects when he gets a creative win. There’s something interstellar about the human spirit. The scriptures read, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of Heavenly lights who does not change like shifting shadows.”(James 1:17 NIV)

Back to that underhand free throw…

Humans do meander. We choke. We flop. But our design is one destined from above, from the Creator. The free throw? Grace. Jesus gives us an arc to the Highest One. The net is love. The swish is its contagion to others. Daniel highlights this. “Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.”
