Hack Words

“HAPPY ELECTION DAY!”

I’m a total hack when it comes to carving! No knives out! 😅 I just want us all to harmonize with respect today. We all have different views. We all have the beautiful right of choice. I find it comforting that there’s a positive definition of “hack”. It means a simple and clever technique for accomplishing a task with ease and efficiency. I’m going with that mindset. Yet…with awareness. The future is a mystery!

Speaking of, I just dropped a second short story in my “Met Mystery Series” on Amazon. Kindle’s running a special on it now, and it’s free. The Met is Melita Ryan, a concierge meteorologist in Miami, who side-hustles as a detective. It’s the atmospheric instability of humanity that fuels her passion. In her dual-world, umbrellas are more often ricin-tipped than not. When cases turn personal, the stakes of accuracy are stratospheric! Check it out here! (My pen name is Ziva Bristow! gotta stay mysterious 😉 )

Ever heard of Salt Typhoon? No, it’s not a fracking thing. It’s the code name for the latest intrusion of China into U.S. infrastructure. U.S. cyber intelligence recently discovered the spies burrowed into America’s broadband networks. The breach is a sign of the effectiveness of China’s massive digital army. The FBI says China’s hacking operations are larger than that of every other nation combined. Awareness. Here are a couple of compelling links.

Generative AI is another next-level concern, especially to artists. Thankfully, some are fighting back with human smarts. MIT “Innovator of the Year”, Shawn Shan, is one of them.

Shan has developed two programs to protect artists’ work and copyright. AI often scrapes work and uses it to train algorithms. That means deep fakes and a swiping of personal style.

Shan’s “Glaze” program allows artists to mask personal style against AI mimicry. His “Nightshade” program uses a poison to corrode AI models that steal from original images.

Nobody wants their brain hacked. It’s a possibility. California just joined Colorado in amending its Consumer Privacy Act to include protections for “brain data”. Products like the popular headband for meditation, “Muse”, use sensors to read brain activity patterns. Non-invasive neurotech devices are not regulated.

LOVE CAN’T BE HACKED.”

SANDRA SHAW/quote from “SolHuBod”

I’m convinced that’s because our true Creator, God, is LOVE. Hacking is forcing, manipulating, or stealing. Love always allows for choice. It’s selfless. Paul explains, “If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot disown Himself.”(2 Timothy 2:13) He’s talking about Jesus.

The word hack originally meant “an inferior or worn out horse.” That’s the antithesis of what the Bible describes in Revelation. It speaks of a white horse upon which sits “The Rider, named Faithful and True…” Not one of use knows what tomorrow will reveal. But we always have a choice to believe in more. Have the most hopeful week ahead! 💜
