Are feet fishy?
My daughter may have a school dress code, but she’s got her own creative tackle box. Hello “Back to School week”!

“Bass Pro Shop 4ever!”
My brother recently caught some legit trout on a hike at Northern Cascades National Park in Washington.

“Fresh!”
Commercial fisherman operate on a much more intense level. But, as one group puts it, they have no safety net, especially if injured on the job. That’s where “Casting for Care” comes in.
I got the chance to support them at a local event.

Meanwhile, a fisher on the Deerfield beach pier helped heal a 90 pound sea turtle named “Ragtime”. The turtle, suffering from a sickness, got entangled in filament. The fisher used a special net to transport her to “Sea Turtle Specialists” in Boca. They treated the illness for 6 weeks. Friday I got to witness Ragtime’s release back into the Atlantic!

“Syncopated Celebration!”
The name “Ragtime” not only got me humming, but obsessing over actual cloth rags. I mean, what is a tourniquet, if not a rag? Healing weaves through the yarn of time and connection.

“Dreams Swim Too”
Yarn-winding requires perception. In fact, only the most astute have noticed a small Da Vinci painting the Met just hung.
“Madonna of the Yarnwinder” shows Jesus wistfully touching the cross-shaped weaving tool.

“Presence & Foreshadowing”
Back to Yeats: “The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to sharpen.”
“An intuitive cast catches more.”
In the scriptures, Saul, who was murdering Jesus-followers, got blinded on the road to Damascus. I’m not sure if cloth gauze was place over Saul’s eyes. But the scriptures describe Ananias meeting Saul after three days. Ananias explained that Jesus would fill Saul with the Holy Spirit. “No sooner were the words out of his mouth than something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes—he could see again!” (Acts 9:18/MSG)
Fish scales are rigid and overlap like a roof. Woven threads are pliable and connect at cross-shaped angles. I’m convinced that every time Jesus intersected with a human, he fished with love.
Saul realized it. Later, as Paul, he eloquently expressed: “I am contending for you that your hearts will be wrapped in the comfort of heaven and woven together in Love’s fabric. This will give you access to all the riches of God as you experience the revelation of God’s great mystery—Christ.” (Colossians 2:2/TPT).
Enjoy the wonder of the week!
