Relays, Matches, & Oasis
There’s something different about running 5 miles in the Saharan Dust. It’s a gut-check that reminds you purpose must propel process!

“Jesus is Our Message”
Last Thursday I ran leg 48 of a 400 mile relay from Jacksonville to the University of Miami. It’s an outreach from Vous Church ahead of our annual conference next week. A core group of guys has been running 3 times a day since Mother’s Day, sleeping in an RV. 😅 In their off time, they’ve been serving with local churches in each community.
From the dust to the clay… Talk about next-level intensity: ROLAND GARROS! What an insanely fierce French Open! I watched it with my mom and dad, and we felt like we were playing with them! Crazy fans! Coco crushed it (take that oddsmakers)!

“Dreamer and Doer”
Alcaraz ascended! No matter it took 5 hours and 29 minutes of grueling physicality, mixed with the mental fortitude to overcome 3 match points!

“All-Time Alcaraz”
“Resilience is ruggedized determination.”
My takeaway? You’ve gotta dig through the dirt to endure. It may be actual, or it may be metaphorical. We all have things in life that require intense, soul-gnawing grit. Even if you must execute solo, I’m convinced we are all interconnected.
“You’re only as good as the people around you.” My friend Scott Hunter gave me that advice more than 20 years ago. It’s stuck, just like enduring friendships.

“Friends that Endure!”
Sometimes visibility becomes hazy. Take the Israelites after crossing the Red Sea. The scriptures say that right after such an epic miracle, they travelled for three days through the desert grime without water. When they finally reached water, it was bitter.
Until Moses prayed.
Exodus 15:27 reads: “They came to Elim where there were twelve springs of water and seventy palm trees.”
I’m convinced there’s an oasis in our dreams, accessible through the One who took the DIRT from the ground and breathed life into it.
“…and man became a living being.” (Genesis 2:7)
If His Love endures forever, so can we.
“Restful Rise”
Have an awesome week!
