Connected Words

Fascia, Filaments, & Fluttering

Have you ever heard of the yoga pose, “contorted wire”? No? Well I invented it the other day after a 30 minute fight with my microphone. When I say it was enwrapped in the the back of my dress, I mean it had like spawned roots in the lining! Argh! The best part of the end of a show is ditching the mic. Little did I know my battle was just beginning…

“This! Argh!”

It did get me thinking about how everything in the universe is so interconnected. This verified during a recent Aarmy cycling workout. The focus this day? Fascia. That’s the continuous network of tissue that permeates the entire human body. Who knew? (I’m sore!)

Then there’s that recent “get” by astronomers via telescope. It captured images of the first-ever strand of the “cosmic web”—that vast network of hydrogen filaments that threads through all of space.

It reminds me of the neurons in our brain. Every choice we make travels a certain pathway or creates a new one. An Oleta State Park Ranger talked about this the other day. He came in on his day off to facilitate a clean-up project for our church group. He explained that human choice, to create good, helps synchronize a healthier environment. It’s all connected!

Cue the butterfly effect in quantum physics. In simple terms, small changes can lead to vastly different outcomes.

“Even small wings choreograph the cosmic ecosystem.”

My takeaway from all this? We have infinite choices. But how and what we choose matters. We matter. Interconnectedness speaks to the value of life.

The Psalmist exclaims in scripture, “Compared to all this cosmic glory, why would you bother with puny, mortal man?” The verses go on to speak of the honor bestowed on humanity. Psalms 8:6 reads, “You have delegated them mastery over all you have made, making everything subservient to their authority, placing earth itself under the feet of your image-bearers.” (TPT)

And when we fall short? I’m reassured that even the very image of God’s grace abides in our cells. Laminin is a protein that holds all the cells and tissues together in our body. Here’s what it looks like.

“The Cross” Colossians 1:17

Embrace the honor of each moment, choice, and experience this week !🙂
