Name Words

Satellites, Sourdough, & Sardinia

My daughter’s name, Jordan, is currently moving through a constellation more than 157 million miles from Earth. What, you say? Her name is on a microchip on NASA’s Parker Solar Probe, which is studying the sun. She’s not alone. More than a million names are on the chip. NASA’s mission allowed anyone to submit their name to be put aboard back in 2018. In December, the probe will get as close to the sun as its ever been!

This week, another branch of NASA offered a different kind of name experience. NASA’s LandSat allows you to see your name via satellite images. It’s so cool. Check it out! The link is below:

“Written from Above”

The texture of Earth speaks to the life that’s on it. It also reflects what that life consumes. According to Whole Foods, “Crunchy”, will reign as the texture du jour of 2025. It announced its food trends of the upcoming year, ranging from tea to sourdough. I’ll go with sourdough any day. Add some chocolate and I’m embracing the texture 100%. Can’t wait until this arrives in the U.S. !

I’m obsessed with the artistry and flavor of desserts. It’s Pastry Week on “The Great British Baking Show”. So what’s your pastry name?

“Sweetness”

A stray dog from Thailand named “Snickers” sure is sweet. She never accepts food empty mouthed! From coconuts to shoes, she always shows her gratitude!

GENEROSITY IS A SHARED TEXTURE.”

SANDRA SHAW

Simonetta Bazzu is sharing Sardinia’s culinary artisanry with the next generation. She’s turned her abandoned island village into a culinary education center and pasta school. Stazzus are the traditional, one room, farmhouses of the area. She transformed three of them. One is a pasta-making kitchen, the old goat barn is a wine cellar, and the other is a bread and pasta museum. Bazzu even teaches students how to make the rarest pasta in the world, Filindeu, which looks like lace. Filindeu means “Threads of God”.

There’s something about human hands, working with love, that sews the magic of life’s flavor and beauty. Whatever your name, you create the texture of your character. I’m convinced God transforms both.

“Can’t you see? I have carved your name on the palms of my hands! Your walls are always my concern.” (Isaiah 49:16)

Carry on with brave texture this week. 💚
