Origami, Doubles, & Surfing

“Mom, I’m bored.”

“Really?!”

Never mind we went to the beach, to the mall, practiced volleyball, got a happy meal… 🙃

“Bored Art” By: Jordan

I wonder if the person who randomly started folding paper in Japan and came up with origami was “bored”. Speaking of, there’s a new form of origami. A recently discovered “bloom” design, may inspire new space technology. The origami unfolds in one singular motion, reducing chances for failure. It’s compatible with telescope and solar panel engineering.

“You can take that birth certificate and fold it into a paper airplane.” That comment came from an analyst commentating the US Open Tennis Tournament. The subject? 45-year-old Venus Williams and her bespoke doubles play!

But, back to boredom. Let’s consult another elder maestro of the tennis world: Novak Djokovic. In a recent podcast with Jay Shetty, he spoke about how what many call boredom, is a good thing. He sees it as a call to reflection and reset. Here, creativity can catalyze.

“SURFING SINCE 1965—JUST SAVED TWO LIVES!”

“I JUST HAPPENED TO BE IN THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME TO HELP SOMEBODY OUT.” That’s how 72 year old Dave “Bean” Coffee described saving a father at son who were drowning off the waters of New Smyrna Beach. The two lost their surfboards and were well offshore. Suffice it to say it’s a good thing “Bean” Coffee has found the routine of surfing stimulating all these years. Faithful mastery maximizes life!

Can’t find anything to stir passion? What about taking a walk? There is much to observe and interact with!

‘Insight”

“Awareness comprehends discovery.”

Sandra Shaw

The etymology of the word “comprehend” means to seize together. By distilling distractions, “boredom”, invites optics into the overlooked. Listening also opens up sensory layers. I’m convinced that it’s the integration of mind and Spirit, curiosity and wonder, and ultimately God, that brings together insight and comprehension. The scriptures sum it up. “Perfect, absolute peace surrounds those whose imaginations are consumed with you; they confidently trust in you.” Isaiah 26:3

May you enjoy every moment of the week ahead!
