Aha Words

Skater, Thriller, & Singer

Our ghosted pool key reappeared Sunday as suddenly as the kick-flip of skateboard!

“No more parkouring the fence to swim!”

I may have told Jordan misplacing it was so “middle school”. And she may have replied, “Well, mom, you’re so retirement home!” 🤣  Aha moment?! Note to self, one can never out-sass a 6th (soon to be 7th grader).

It turns out that legitimate light bulb instances, or those sudden flashes of insight that drop on us when we’re least expecting it, actually double our memory. If you’ve been grappling with a problem and a dramatic solution clicks randomly? It’s a powerful imprint on the memory!

So how can we spark more breakthrough eurekas? Perhaps with some subconscious intention. Back to middle school, I try to ask Jordan consistently, “What’s your win for the day?” (thank you @jongordon). The practice seems keeps us noticing the things are working. A solid foundation establishes, and voila, bring on the future epiphanies.

“Ideas Flying In!”

Collabs can also ignite creative zest. YouTube sensation “Mr. Beast” is the king of that. His latest risk? Co-authoring a thriller with James Patterson. It’s set for release next year!

Maybe it flies, maybe it doesn’t. The point? Mr. Beast is bold enough to try. Risk resonates through the 3rd grade class I featured on the news recently. Jessica Walker not only has her students singing math equations, but embracing failure as a success principle.

“Audacity adds up!”

There’s this awesome scripture along these lines. James 1:4 (TPT), reads “And if anyone longs to be wise, ask God for wisdom and He will give it! He won’t see your lack of wisdom as an opportunity to scold you over your failures but He will overwhelm your failures with His generous grace.” I think the epiphany here is that no question is off the table for God. It’s just up to us to ask! Here’s to a confident week ahead. 😊
