CURATED CURIOSITIES

“What the sigma?”

Please excuse my Gen Alpha SLANG. It’s a bit immersive if you spend any time around a 6-14 year old. Warning: expect to be called “cringe” if they catch you using their words. The gang switches it up almost daily, creating an insider vibe. When I woke up Jordan the other day, she greeted me with, “Hello, Mother Crustiness.” 😂

The creativity is kinda ‘rizz.’ The toilet implications are a bit ‘brainrot’.

The lexicon emerged from a viral video called “Skibidi,” featuring a character emerging from a toilet and singing. Skibidi grew into 70 mini episodes about a war between toilets and cyborgs. Michael Bay (director of Transformers) now has a “Skibidi Toilet” film and TV franchise in the works. I give it negative aura points.

BUT, things could change in a couple hours LOL.

“Preppylicious”

Accents are a thing. In the case of AI chatbots, a new challenge has surfaced. It turns out that assistants like Siri and ChatGPT have quite the difficulty in interpreting southern accents and Miami Spanglish 🧐

“Enunciate”

On a more grave note, freedom of speech is in a precarious position in much of the world. Last week Elon Musk took on the UK government after they accused him of inciting unrest through tweets on “X”. A senior police officer in Britain even suggested Americans could be extradited over their posts about recent riots.

The situation is much more intense in Venezuela. A government-backed app allows users to report people that voice dissent against Maduro (the dictator at the center of a disputed re-election). According to human rights groups, thousands have since been arrested and more than a dozen killed in a post-election crackdown.

SHARED THOUGHTS TRAVERSE THE INFINITE.”

“Electric Words”

I’m convinced that conversations create alternatives. Muzzled mouths forfeit the fight. Words carry a quantum power that can shock-break mediocrity, depression, and falsehood. The Bible compares the best voices with honey. Intriguingly, honey never expires. Case in point? The honey discovered in King Tut’s tomb in 1923.

Honey preserves sweetness. Communication preserves human dignity.

Phil M. Jones, a British author, says that switching every “I” into a “You” in dialogue, is a game changer. Empathy is a linguistic elixir. Bees must work together to create honey and protect its value. Then, much like hope, it floats atop the honeycomb. David writes in the Psalms, “How sweet are your living promises to me; sweeter than honey is your revelation light.” We all can taste this hope and we can all flavor it forward to each other. Thank you for savoring “Weather of Words.” 💜
